IS LESS MORE?

Zueimy Vazquez Diaz

The other day while watching a movie, one character says to another: “You’re very pretty, you don’t need makeup…” and then it seemed a bit strange to me.

Who says when we should and shouldn't wear makeup? How much and why?

One of the activities that many women enjoy is getting ready—getting ready for themselves, to relax and think less about problems. Many don't realize how many thoughts we have while getting ready. Personally, I like getting my eyebrows done. It's my favorite part of doing makeup, because eyebrows look elegant and make me feel more empowered when they're well-groomed and with a little color without going overboard. They give me personality, they make me feel like a goal, no matter how absurd it may sound to many.

Wear makeup whenever you want, whenever you want to pamper yourself, and even if you want to pamper yourself, don't. People shouldn't judge someone's beauty based on how much makeup they wear. I've made those kinds of comments myself, but knowing I don't like receiving them, I don't want to be part of them either.

"She only looks pretty when she wears makeup," "You would look better if you didn't wear so much makeup every day..." Just to mention a few of the phrases that have made many women feel insecure about going natural.

So when does less is more apply?
If you're going to feel comfortable with minimal makeup, then less is more. On the other hand, if you can use all the products you want to pamper yourself and feel comfortable and less worried about other things, less is more. You're completely within your rights to dress up as much or as little as you want, whenever you want.

Do it for you, to pamper yourself. Let the rule so many people say apply to you.

Thanks for reading me one more Sunday ✨

With Love,

Zueimy.
